There are plenty of advantages to home working and other forms of remote professional activity, in the opinion of one expert.
David Liddle, founder and director of dispute resolution specialist Total Conflict Management, noted that the rise of technology has made it easier for people to work from different locations and on various networks.
"I think companies should be more flexible and [they] are being a lot more flexible," he stated.
Mr Liddle admitted the one downside of remote working is the lack of social interaction with other employees. However, this could be easily outweighed by the economic and social benefits it provides.
Among the technology that has provided such a boost to the home working industry are smartphones, virtual networks and social media, the industry chief commented.
Dr Graeme Codrington, futurist at Tomorrowtoday.uk.com, also recently said technology is behind the rise of remote activities, identifying improved bandwidth as a key factor.
