London companies may find that home working is the answer to all the logistical problems that could lie ahead as a result of the Olympic Games.
With the sporting jewel due to arrive in the city this July, BT has carried out a survey to find out just how ready local businesses are for the event.
While it noted that 73 per cent of the respondents from small, medium and large organisations are optimistic that they will be boosted by the presence of the Games, many have yet to take even the simplest of steps towards coping with them.
The vast majority of firms (93 per cent) are expecting their working routine to be disrupted in some way, with staff absences, productivity and supply chain issues among the most common fears.
Those that invest in home working technology prior to the event may find such fears do not become a reality, as staff are able to stick to their existing schedule from their abode.
A recent study by the International Data Corporation found 1.3 billion people around the world will be able to use a mobile to carry out at least some of their work by 2015, potentially enabling more individuals to base themselves at home.
