There will be more home working staff in 2011 than there were last year, a new survey has revealed.
According to a poll of 200 IT security professionals conducted by SecurEnvoy, 82 per cent more people will be working from home, perhaps while utilising remote access software, this year, reports SC Magazine.
Co-founder of the company Andrew Kemshall said it is vital for security teams to stay on top of their firms' data protection when allowing staff to work from home.
He advised: "If you are going to open up the network's perimeter, you need some way of doing so securely and verifying that those connecting are who they say they are," reports the news provider.
The company's poll also revealed that tablet computers, including Apple iPads, will drive remote access, according to 64 per cent of those surveyed.
Transport secretary Philip Hammond, writing recently for the Evening Standard, suggested home working should be offered to staff during the London Olympic Games next year in a bid to reduce traffic congestion.
