Companies which offer the option of home working to their staff are likely to reap the benefits of their employees being less stressed.
It makes employees' feel less tense because they do not have to commute long distances into work during rush hour, explained Peter Thomson, director of research at the Telework Association.
He said that staff will also see the financial benefits themselves, as they save money by not commuting.
"With the price of fuel and rail fares going up, that can be a significant saving," Mr Thomson added.
A recent study by Working for fathers, carried out by Working Families and the Lancaster University Management School, revealed that giving dads the option of home working could lower their stress levels, as well as boosting their commitment to their employer.
Fathers who worked from home, perhaps at the same time as using remote access software, had higher levels of wellbeing.
