Home working has numerous benefits which businesses should realise.
According to Maria Miller, the work and pensions minister, "most successful businesses understand the important role it can play in recruiting and retaining the right staff".
She said it is important for home working, which could include the use of remote access software, to start being "considered a normal way to work".
With people increasingly working past the age of retirement, parents wanting to spend more time with their family and more disabled people seeking employment, home working is something the majority of employees will want at some point in life, the minister suggested.
Peter Thomson, director of research at the Telework Association, recently said that as well as having numerous benefits for individuals, home working is also advantageous for the economy and environment.
Due to this, home working should definitely be promoted on a national scale as beneficial for businesses, he suggested.
