Businesses are increasingly turning their attention to things other than desktop IT, with home working becoming a more prevalent trend.
According to Tim Jennings, Ovum chief analyst, more staff who work from home are now being given remote server access and the use of remote access software to allow them access to systems wherever they are working from.
"The mobile revolution will generate strong demand for mobile applications, as well as for the development and management platforms to support this shift," he explained.
Recently, Peter Thomson, director of research at the Telework Association, said it is an eco-conscious generation who are entering the workforce driving the uptake of home working.
He said people are increasingly veering away from the idea of commuting into work as they perceive it to be too harmful to the environment.
Mr Thomson added that he believes this new group of more eco-minded people think their parents' generation was responsible for polluting the planet and they are not willing to follow suit.
