With an increasing number of staff home working, companies must ensure they have good security policies in place to protect their data.
A whitepaper released by security specialist Symantec has looked specifically at the use of Android and iOS mobile platforms within businesses.
"Today's mobile devices are a mixed bag when it comes to security," said Carey Nachenberg, a fellow and chief architect at Symantec's Security Technology and Response arm.
He warned that employees are "increasingly using unmanaged, personal devices to access sensitive enterprise resources", and this is something which firms definitely need to address with home working uptake on the rise.
Companies need to ensure the use of mobile devices takes place without "key assets" being exposed to potential scams.
Con Mallon, director of regional product marketing at Norton, recently said that businesses need to place more importance on security when their staff are making use of mobile devices such as smartphones and tablet computers.
