Home working ‘to be boosted by technology’

1st February

Category: Workforce mobility

Businesses that offer home working to staff will find the process becomes an easier and even more successful option in the months and years to come.

That is the view of Dr Graeme Codrington, futurist at Tomorrowtoday.uk.com, who said the rise of various pieces of technology will pave the way to more remote opportunities.

He suggested that those working from home and non-office locations are sure to feel the benefits of pieces of kit that permit extra mobility, flexibility and virtual connection.

"Improved bandwidth will allow for the increasing use of video connections - on the voice over internet protocol backbone - and this will be quite significant. Cloud computing might be of value [too]," Dr Codrington stated.

The expert noted the cloud will be useful when it comes to sharing files.

According to a recent report by the Telegraph, some government officials have been invited to enjoy home working for four days during February as part of Operation Stepchange.
