There is likely to be an increase in home working in the public sector, it has been suggested.
According to Ken Eastwood of Public Sector Nomads, speaking at the SmartGov Live conference, a need for further savings to be made in accommodation costs will increase the mobile workforce in the public sphere, reports the Guardian.
He said the public sector will need to adhere to government spending cuts and reducing the amount of office space they occupy will be one way of doing this.
"A lot more could happen with accommodation," said Mr Eastwood, who is also assistant director at Barnsley council.
He added that mobile technology, perhaps including remote access software, is making it possible for organisations to increase the number of people working from home.
Steve Holford, marketing director at Fasthosts Internet, recently advised companies to ensure their home working employees pay attention to data protection issues when they are out of the office.
