IT outsourcing ‘helps SMEs control service costs’

Category: Support and managed services

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) looking to gain more control over their IT services costs may want to consider the benefits of IT outsourcing, it has been suggested.

Ben Birmingham, managing consultant at outsourcing advisers Quantum Plus, noted support and managed services has been popular among larger organisations for some time, but observed the practice is becoming increasingly favoured by smaller businesses.

The industry expert said firms are currently focusing on IT outsourcing as they perceive it almost as a commodity.

"Small to medium-sized businesses see it as a way of controlling, rather than reducing, IT services costs," he explained.

Mr Birmingham added clients are beginning to push for more business-related pricing that is connected to the meeting of certain objectives, rather than an annual charge.

In a recent article for Official Wire, Kathy Mar Mateo claimed IT outsourcing companies will continue to experience growth across the remainder of this year.
