The advantages of introducing virtualisation platforms have become so widely acknowledged that a growing number of firms are proposing high-level integrations.
Writing for Virtual Strategy Magazine, Mike Palin stated that platforms to streamline server processes are particularly popular.
"Server virtualisation has made rapid inroads into a majority of enterprise data centres," he remarked. "Many [businesses] are at the point of planning larger deployments that will serve thousands of users."
According to Mr Palin, IT professionals have been heartened by "tangible operational improvements", as well as raised management efficiency and a reduction in costs.
Platforms like VMware‘s vMotion software can also enable organisations to run critical applications continuously without affecting productivity, he added, which can help companies to move virtual machines from one physical computer to another more easily.
The benefits of server virtualisation were recently highlighted by Tony Lock of Freeform Dynamics, who commented that they drive costs down and maximise available resources.
