The Liberal Democrats have promoted the benefits of flexible employment - which can be made possible through such products as Citrix Access Gateway.

Nick Clegg, the party’s leader and the MP for Sheffield Hallam, announced the advantages such workforce mobility can bring as he unveiled plans for policies affecting families.

The politician said that if he is successful in the upcoming general election, he would extend the right to request remote access working to all employees.

He explained: "It’s simply not fair that families have to structure their lives around rigid rules instead of having more flexibility to arrange their working lives around the need of their families."

The party would strive to help job arrangements fit in with the demands of life at home, he added.

IT specialist Mark Lewis recently explained that individuals can boost their productivity by working from home as there are fewer distractions than those created in an office environment.
