Local authority chooses ERP software

The benefits of enterprise resource planning (ERP) software have been highlighted by a local authority in the US state of Arizona.

According to InMaricopa.com, a new system is set to be implemented by Maricopa City Council.

Speaking at the meeting at which the move was approved, finance director Cynthia Sneed explained that existing suites do not communicate with each other, while data usage is excessive.

"We looked at the current software we were using and found an alarming number of redundant efforts being completed by [the] city," she was quoted as saying.

In order to address the problem, Ms Sneed’s team set about trying to find a way to improve efficiency and an ERP system that can be continually upgraded was ultimately chosen.

James Burdiss, vice-president of Affinia Group, recently observed in an article for CIO that ERP software can bring about benefits for businesses - as it can help improve the decision-making process.
