Managed IT services for SMEs ‘to become more popular’

19th January

Category: Managed IT Services

Managed IT Services will be important to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) throughout 2010.

This is the opinion of Tim Herbert, vice-president of research organisation CompTIA, who claimed that providers who offer this kind of service could see a surge in demand.

He remarked: "There [is] an opportunity to provide ongoing maintenance services to help [SMEs] better manage their IT systems under current business conditions."

His comments follow a study by the firm that found 30 per cent of less-sizeable companies are looking to explore solutions of this kind over the next 12 months.

According to CompTIA, the main driver of this requirement is the lack of a formal IT department in 40 per cent of these businesses.

Outsourced IT means that SMEs can "fill this skills gap", it added.

Last month, writing for CIO, Stephanie Overby noted industry experts are predicting that this kind of service will receive a huge boost in 2010.ADNFCR-2732-ID-19564794-ADNFCR
