Managed services ‘can give companies more control’

Using managed services providers to handle key IT functions can provide companies with greater control of their processes while also enabling cost savings.

This is the view of technology expert Laura Stotler, contributing editor for TMCnet, who stated that outsourced IT can be an ideal way for firms to modernise and streamline their infrastructure without incurring major costs.

She suggested that a clear and open managed services relationship, based on proper communication, can give an organisation an equal or greater degree of control over the outsourced IT process than they would have if it was handled in-house.

Ms Stotler added that at the same time, using managed services also frees up internal resources that can then be dedicated to higher-priority objectives.

"With proper planning, analysis and communication, the process can give you some valuable insight into areas of your company needing improvement as well as ways to realise major cost savings," she said.

Last month, Gerry McLaughlin of ITContractor.com stated that companies of all sizes are starting to make investments in outsourced IT, rather than only large multinationals.
