Managed services and outsourced IT are seeing growing demand due to the difficult economic climate, according to new analysis.

A US report from Insight Research has revealed that the local managed services sector is set to grow at a compounded rate of 12 per cent over the next five years, reaching a revenue value of $47 billion (£29.18 billion) by 2015.

According to the organisation, this is taking place due to the fact that many enterprises are finding outsourcing to be a relatively cost-effective method of promoting growth.

Robert Rosenberg, president of Insight Research, observed: "Enterprise IT and telecom managers will be much more willing to listen to the economic logic of outsourcing."

Last week, IANS reported that Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has also observed a rise in demand for outsourced IT services in Europe in recent months.

TCS chief executive N Chandrasekaran suggested that this is taking place across numerous business sectors, including finance, manufacturing and retail.
