Companies that turn to VMware virtualisation solutions could witness a number of upfront benefits as a result, it has been suggested.

Writing for Information Week, Harshal Kallyanpur used the example of finance firm Stewart & Mackertich Wealth Management.

The enterprise opted for virtual software from VMware and has witnessed almost-instant advantages, the reporter noted.

Compute utilisation improved by 25 per cent, while application availability rose 90 per cent.

Moreover, infrastructure uptime increased by 50 per cent and the organisation was able to gain a server consolidation ratio of 12:2.

Company representative Atul Bansal commented: "We required an IT infrastructure agile enough to respond to business demands dynamically."

The source observed the move has also enabled considerable cost savings and has reduced server provisioning time from three weeks to just ten minutes.

VMware recently announced it has witnessed a 48 per cent jump in revenue for the second-quarter of 2010, which was an increase greater than previously forecast.
