New acquisitions to boost VMware vCenter?

3rd September

Category: Virtualisation

VMware's range of virtualisation products may improve further after the firm revealed it is acquiring two companies.

During its VMworld 2010 keynote, the enterprise said it has entered agreements to purchase Intergrien - an analytics software producer - and TriCipher, which specialises in secure access management.

The company noted Integrien's analytics software will enable users of VMware vCenter to boost the level of automation and control they need when using cloud and virtualised infrastructures, thanks to its ability to simplify application management for customers.

Commenting on VMware's deal, vice-president and general manager of management products Boaz Chalamish said IT organisations are currently "under pressure to increase service levels and build the next-generation infrastructure".

He added VMware is "uniquely positioned" to help improve how businesses manage their IT services.

Another business to have recently made a purchase is Citrix, which announced it has signed an agreement to acquire VMLogix, which produces virtualisation management tools.
