The latest Citrix XenDesktop model is a significant advancement for desktop virtualisation.
This is according to Gordon Payne, senior vice-president and general manager of the Desktop Division at Citrix, who was commenting following the release of the new product.
It is a platform that promises great benefits to the growing number of mobile laptop users by adding two new technologies - Citrix XenClient and Citrix XenVault.
The industry figure noted: "This new release of XenDesktop represents an important next step to realizing the benefits that desktop virtualisation can deliver across all users in the enterprise."
He added the introduction of the two technologies has enabled the product to extend its IT ability in regards to managing each desktop component separately, while also making the process more cost-effective scalable and secure.
Citrix recently revealed its financial revenue for the second quarter of 2010 and president and chief executive officer Mark Templeton said he was "very pleased" with the results.
