As the economy begins to recover, IT procurement managers should consider purchasing new enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, such as SAP Business One, it has been claimed.
Writing for IT World Canada, Rafael Ruffolo stated that while some professionals may have decided to shelve their plans to buy software during the global recession, this could be about to change.
"The time may finally be right to start thinking about an upgrade," he remarked, adding that a number of tempting deals are now available to businesses.
According to Mr Ruffolo, for those that are looking to bring in new applications, it is important to realise that with an ERP system "the status quo isn't going to be good enough".
Approaching the implementation of a new platform in a "we've always done it that way" manner is "foolish", he explained, as it is vital to recognise how quickly IT landscapes change.
Inside SAP recently reported comments made by share market expert Frank Newman that ERP systems can help make an enterprise more attractive to investors.
