The flexibility of desktop virtualisation means firms should seriously start considering purchasing software of this kind, one specialist has suggested.
Writing for Network World, John Dix stated there is now a wide range of tools available within the market to suit every individual business need.
"On the face of it, the benefits look increasingly compelling," he remarked, adding that it "might not be difficult to find situations where you can test the waters, especially if you’re planning a desktop refresh."
Mr Dix explained he met with two large banking corporations that both saw the security advantages of desktop virtualisation as the platform’s best asset.
They had tens of thousands of units deployed and are currently carrying out aggressive strategies for expanding their network, he added.
Earlier this month, Forbes magazine highlighted similar benefits of using such systems, with researchers increasingly turning to virtualisation to explore malware and virus prevention initiatives.
