Outlook ‘is strong’ for VMware

22nd July

Category: Virtualisation

Virtualisation specialist VMware can expect to witness strong demand for its virtual software for the remainder of 2010, newly-released figures have suggested.

The company reported a 48 per cent leap in revenue for the second quarter of the year - a jump higher than the amount previously forecast, Bloomberg BusinessWeek reports.

It is a continuation of the progress made by VMware in recent times, after the December 2009 quarter witnessed an 18 per cent increase and a subsequent 35 per cent growth in the first three months of this year.

The firm noted demand was strong for all product categories.

Chief operating officer Tod Nielsen observed: "We continue to hold high expectations for the desktop virtualisation market."

Bogomil Balkansky, vice-president of product marketing for virtualisation and cloud platforms at VMware, recently claimed his company’s fastest-growing customer base is the small and medium-sized enterprise sector, as the technology can improve their infrastructure efficiency.
