Outsourced IT ‘achieving widespread use’

4th March

Category: Support & Managed Services

The majority of major firms are now using outsourced IT as they look to optimise their business performance.

CIO Insight has provided analysis of the IT Governance Institute's recent Global Status Report on the Governance of Enterprise IT, which questioned 834 executives from 21 countries on their companies' use of managed services.

It was found that 73 per cent of respondents said their organisations had "fully outsourced" their IT efforts, while a further 20 per cent stated they had partially embraced outsourced IT.

The data revealed that companies with centralised organisation models were the most likely to utilise IT support services in this way, with end-user support the element that is most likely to be outsourced.

CIO Insight contributor Don Reisinger said this is representative of companies' efforts to keep prices down and maximise profitability.

Last month, Everest Group published research showing that the outsourced IT market is growing as a result of the global economic recovery.
