Outsourced IT and SaaS ‘becoming more prominent trends’

A growing number of companies are turning to outsourced IT and software-as-a-service offerings as a means of improving their business' effectiveness.

This is the view of Spencer Parker, group product manager at business computing security firm Websense, who noted that both of these technologies can help firms to lighten their IT workload.

According to the expert, this ties in with the trend towards smaller IT departments in recent years.

"If they can outsource or go to SaaS for as many of these things as they possibly can, it reduces the amount of work they have to do," he explained.

Mr Parker also noted that outsourcing ensures key IT functions are handled by those with expertise in the field, rather than internal staff who do not have the same level of specific training.

This comes after Hugh Bradlow of telecommunications firm Telstra commented earlier this month that an outsourced IT setup helps companies to cope with the changing nature of modern business ICT more easily.
