Outsourced IT is becoming increasingly popular for companies in the telecoms sector.
Recent research from Ovum revealed that managed IT services now account for around 12 per cent of telecoms' firms IT contracts.
Outsourced IT is increasingly become a priority for companies in this sector, the analyst revealed.
Speaking to ComputerWeekly.com, Ovum principal analyst Clare McCarthy said that telecoms companies are spending more money on their IT following the downturn, which is seeing them look towards IT projects which deliver quick returns.
"Telcos are looking to maintain their margins, and are looking to the business as a whole to see where they can make improvement," she added.
Recently, it was suggested that outsourced IT could help mitigate some firms' concerns surrounding data protection.
Alex Teh, commercial director of Vigil Software, explained that when companies move towards virtualisation and the cloud, the key issue will be whether people trying to access applications and data are who they say they are.
