Outsourced IT ‘can help to focus small business operations’

Small business owners that wish to bring focus to their operations have been advised to consider outsourced IT services.

Entrepreneur Matthew von Teichman told the Globe and Mail that smaller firms would be wise to think about outsourcing essential aspects of their business that they are not best suited to handling themselves.

He suggested drawing up a list of operations that it is essential to manage in-house, such as product development and key account sales, before handing responsibility for other aspects to managed services providers.

By doing this, he stated that companies can avoid wasting time on non-productive business elements, which will instead be dealt with by paid professionals with experience in the field.

"Focus on your core competency and find good companies to expertly look after what you're weak in and your business will be far better off," he said.

Earlier this month, data from Insight Research suggested that more firms are investing in managed services following the recession, as they seek to stimulate growth in a cost-effective way.
