Choosing outsourced IT is no longer a sign that a company cannot cope with its workload, it is instead an indicator of its desire to be more efficient.

Jagdish Dalal, managing director of the Association of Outsourcing Professionals, has explained the numerous benefits of using outside firms to complete tasks.

"Outsourcing is providing companies with alternative business models, whereby they can manage a small but market-differentiating core while engaging expert third parties to perform the necessary work," he told the Financial Times.

He went on to state that even in the current period of economic difficulty, outsourced IT has still proven itself to be a worthwhile option for businesses.

It is said to trigger advantages such as increased flexibility, reduced costs and a position of strength in the market against rivals.

Herald Scotland recently suggested that the use of outsourced IT in the country is likely to grow over the coming years.
