Outsourced IT on the agenda for Lincolnshire Police Authority

23rd December

Category: Support & Managed Services

A police force is to use an outside firm to complete many of its tasks and duties, including a significant quantity of outsourced IT.

Lincolnshire Police Authority has confirmed it has agreed to a £200 million outsourcing contract that it expects will trigger significant savings each year.

It believes the use of outsourced IT services can "transform" the way the eastern county is policed.

The organisation has also suggested its revolutionary decision will "create a benchmark for service delivery nationwide".

Over the course of the next ten years, the police body expects to save approximately £28 million and its workforce will be trimmed as staff are transferred to outsourcing positions.

Outsourcing IT and other professional responsibilities could be very much in trend at the moment in the UK.

IT Business Edge recently reported figures from the Everest Group that showed activity in the outsourcing sector was up in the third quarter of 2011.
