Outsourced IT on the menu for Little Chef

1st May

Category: Support & Managed Services

Little Chef is revamping the way it is run by moving from its base in Sheffield and outsourcing much of the work that is currently completed there.

The motorway restaurant chain has carried out a "strategic review" of its operations and has decided to overhaul its methods. It is thought a small number of redundancies will be made but many employees will be offered similar roles elsewhere.

In a statement, it said: "The head office move and operational reorganisation will have a positive effect on the restaurants with upgraded IT, marketing, site support and back office systems."

News of the turn to outsourced IT comes after Little Chef announced in January that it planned to close 67 of its 161 restaurants.

Lee Ayling, a partner at KPMG, recently told how outsourcing is increasingly becoming the norm for companies in the UK and around the world, with many legal firms said to be advising their clients on how to sign up for such a deal.
