Outsourced IT popularity could be on the rise

The popularity of outsourced IT and other outside work processes appears to be on the up, according to new research.

Figures from the Everest Group show that activity in the outsourcing sector was up in the third quarter of 2011, reported IT Business Edge.

It noted that a total of 46 new service delivery centres were set up over the three-month period in question, compared to 38 in the second quarter of the year.

The report identified several spots as emerging outsourcing markets – South America, eastern Europe and Mexico.

However, when it comes to delivery centres, India leads the way, having built 16 in the last quarter alone, the online publication revealed.

The Irish Independent this week reported that outsourcing may have a role to play in the future of Ireland should the Croke Park deal be agreed, with councils promised they will be able to turn to the solution if they can prove it saves money.
