Outsourced IT to help US schools cut costs

Schools in Marietta, Georgia will turn to outsourced IT - which could be reliant on SystemSure products - in a bid to slash their running costs and maintain current levels of performance.

The equivalent of 22 positions will be sent to outside firms to complete as the city's education institutions target savings of four per cent, reported the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

By adopting such a strategy, it is said that no schools in the area will have to lay off teachers or ask for staff to take a period of leave.

"Reducing days of instruction through furloughs and larger class sizes is not in the best interest of our core business of educating students," superintendent Emily Lembeck is quoted by the newspaper as stating.

As well as outsourcing work, two education facilities in the city will be scrapped and merged at one location.

Jagdish Dalal, managing director of the Association of Outsourcing Professionals, recently said that choosing outsourced IT is a sign that a company is aiming to become more efficient.
