Outsourcing is expected to become increasingly important to companies as they seek to recover from the economic downturn this year.

That is the suggestion of the International Association of Outsourcing Professionals (IAOP), which predicted that more firms will take advantage of such services.

Outsourced IT is expected to be a popular option not only because it can save money, but because of improved flexibility and the possibility of recapturing innovation.

IAOP chairman Michael Corbett suggested that the industry is entering the decade "with positive signs of rebounding".

"As companies recover from these tough economic times, outsourcing will enable them to emerge as leaders in the new global economy."

Meanwhile, a shift towards the greater use of technology such as cloud computing was forecast by the body.

Senad Hadzic, chief information officer of mining company KaMin, recently told Forbes that outsourced IT can be particularly beneficial for small businesses when they are starting out.ADNFCR-2732-ID-19544141-ADNFCR
