Businesses have been warned that in order to make the most of desktop virtualisation solutions, they must go through a comprehensive planning process prior to adopting the technology.
Virtualisation has many benefits – including the potential to make firms greener.
Indeed, it was recently said by Gartner that Indian companies are set to prioritise green IT over the coming years – which could lead to many investing in such solutions.
Now, Danny Bradbury, writing for the Register, has had his say, suggesting that virtualisation is a wonderful tool that will help firms to become "far more efficient".
But he admitted that planning is the key, as without this it is easy to make mistakes and "trip yourself up".
Mr Bradbury advised operating a simple network as the huge quantities of data being held within them thanks to the increasing adoption of cloud computing means it can be tricky to deal with complex set-ups.
"Managing virtual systems over a single network fabric can make life far easier for administrators, decreasing management costs while maintaining system uptime," he stated.
