The fundamental guiding principle for enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems provider SAP is quality, it has been claimed.

Jose Duarte, president of Europe, the Middle East, Africa and India for the Germany-based company, has outlined the values the outfit is most proud of.

The specialist noted: "Our aim is to provide customers with the guidance and tools they need to deliver highly successful and effective software implementations that clearly demonstrate measurable business benefits."

He was speaking at the announcement of the SAP Quality Awards - accolades that recognise the customers that adhered to the highest standards of management in their software implementations.

The victor in the small and medium-sized enterprises category was Emirates Steel, which selected a SAP ERP application that encompassed sales, distribution, controlling, human resources and financial management.

It recently emerged SAP is expanding its operations across the globe, with Qatar proving to be a particularly prosperous location for the business.
