Remote access technology ‘becoming vital for SMEs’

Category: Workforce Mobility

Mobile working and remote access technology are becoming increasingly important areas of investment for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

This is the view of Martin Lyne, director of SME marketing at T-Mobile, who stated that the proliferation of devices such as smartphones is providing companies with opportunities to enhance their business continuity.

By allowing workers to use mobile devices in flexible home working applications, firms can maintain contact with staff members on a constant basis via emails and texts.

The phones can also be used to process business-relevant data, such as addresses or information on contracts and deals, without requiring the user to call into the office.

"Workers expect the same technology at work as in their personal lives. Small businesses need to be flexible and available at all times, regardless of whether in the office or on the road," Mr Lyne added.

Last week, Bhaskar Bakthavatsalu of Check Point Software Technologies told Express Computer that the use of smartphones and other mobile devices is becoming a "way of life" for most companies.
