Enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems provider SAP's acquisition of Sybase will be of great benefit to the company's customers, it has been suggested.

Bill McDermott and Jim Hagemann Snabe, co-chief executive officers at the Germany-based outfit - which provides ERP systems such as SAP Business One - were talking as the partnership announced its strategic product directions.

The duo described the pairing of the two firms as a significant game-changer for the industry.

They noted: "The coming together of SAP and Sybase is 100 per cent a customer-focused move, delivering a value proposition for customers in mobility, analytics and information management."

It is a service unmatched and unique in the sector, the pair claimed.

The two industry figures added the alliance would transform the way people and businesses operate.

Mr McDermott recently announced SAP will see its customer base expand in the coming years, pointing out its clientele had swelled from 10,000 to more than 100,000 in the last quarter.
