Enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems provider SAP is considering a range of sustainability projects, it has been suggested.
Writing for DNAIndia, Amit Tripathi noted the software licensing opportunity from such green-related programmes for firms is worth around $7.3 billion (£4.77 billion) between 2009 and 2013.
The reporter observed these activities need to ensure the company’s business is not affected as it strives for broader growth.
Peter Graf, chief sustainability officer at SAP in California, the US - which produces ERP systems such as SAP Business One - commented: "IT is just about one to two per cent of the whole challenge of carbon emission and sustainability."
The journalist added SAP has around 1,800 customers that run one or more solutions related to green practices from the organisation.
Contributing for Computer Weekly, Ian Murphy recently stated SAP is the current market leader for ERP systems for small and medium-sized enterprises.
