A company looking to modernise its operations might want to consider a SAP enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.
Organisations may wish to carry out such an installation to replace ageing applications, Claire McEntee has suggested on stuff.co.nz.
The journalist used the example of Contact Energy, which has chosen software from the Germany-based firm to help it achieve a major overhaul of old platforms.
Ms McEntee observed the move would replace out-of-date finance, asset management and retail systems.
Jason Dykes, spokesman for the energy group, claimed the infrastructure will enable new business processes and customer services.
It is expected the finance system revamp will have concluded by the end of this year, the asset management installation will be finished in 2011 and the retail software model should be finalised in 2012.
Trefis recently reported SAP’s market share is trending higher than previously predicted, suggesting the provider can expect a bright future.
