An enterprise resource planning (ERP) system from SAP could enable manufacturing firms to maintain correct and organised data across different stages of their operations, it has been suggested.
SteelGuru.com noted the software from the Germany-based outfit has been selected by industrial company Izhorskiye Zavody in a bid to allow the organisation to receive unified reference lists for materials, workplaces and technological processes.
The move will ensure "coordination between design and technological data and quantitative information on material costs and between technological operation norms and quantitative information on work costs", the website explained.
It observed such benefits will allow full planning on money spent across all stages of the manufacturing cycle and will also consider labour resources, account material and production.
The portal added the switch should mean the company can easily react to any changes in design and technological documentation.
SAP ERP was recently installed by Konica Minolta South Africa as the fax machine distributor aimed to be more specific in its customer service efficiency.
