SAP has become the favourite choice among companies looking to implement an enterprise resource planning system (ERP), it has been claimed.

Writing for ExecDigital, Ian Armitage noted the Germany-based firm is popular among corporates as it has redefined the way business should be done.

The industry expert observed the ERP systems have a number of advantages to bring to prospective customers.

These include improved alignment of strategies and operations, better productivity and insight, as well as reduced costs.

He quoted SAP: "The SAP ERP application supports the essential functions of your business processes and operations efficiently and is tailored to specific needs of your industry."

The technology can also enhance financial management and corporate governance, retain top performers and provide instant access to enterprise information, the specialist added.

SAP Philippines country manager Jennie Ligones recently recommended small and medium-sized enterprises should invest in SAP ERP as the platforms would enable greater business transparency.
