A company that implements a SAP enterprise resource planning (ERP) system can expect to reap notable financial gains, it has been suggested.
Writing for Computer Weekly, Cliff Saran noted a pharmaceuticals firm has opted for software from the Germany-based provider in an effort to increase its market share.
The reporter observed Bayer signed an agreement with SAP to support its IT strategy "to standardise globally on the SAP ERP package".
It will help Bayer reduce operational costs "by means of a scalable and efficient software landscape across the business", Mr Saran claimed.
He added the two organisations have been partners since 1984 and SAP became Bayer’s most important strategic software associate as part of a developer partnership agreement in 2000.
Business World recently revealed SAP’s Business One ERP system has been chosen by cuisine company Zagu Foods to help it streamline a number of operations, including stock, sales, finance and accounting.
