Users of SAP's enterprise resource planning (ERP) software may be delighted to learn that the company is to provide quarterly upgrades.
There had been suggestions that a compulsory and large-scale update to such systems was on the way, but the technology manufacturer has moved to rule this out.
Instead, customers will benefit from smaller improvements that are implemented every three months without disruption or a loss of services.
"Customers will be able to determine the speed of innovation based on their needs - without major upgrade efforts," SAP stated.
Among the areas due to be given a breath of fresh air under the plans are cloud computing, memory and mobility.
Several of SAP's ERP products will fall under the scheme, which will run until 2010 – an extension of five years on the previous deal.
Dan Wood, writing for Forbes, recently said that SAP is a company that is progressing at a rapid rate and this is shown in the products it is offering to clients.
