Planned upgrades to SAP‘s enterprise resource planning (ERP) platforms are a step in the right direction, it has been suggested.
Robert Mick of IT consultancy ARC Advisory Group noted that proposals put forward by the company for its ERP systems, which includes SAP Business One, at its recent annual Influencer Summit are taking into account the needs of users.
"Business software functionality has been mature for some time so it can be very difficult to build excitement around new versions, even after major investments," he remarked.
However, according to Mr Mick, the organisation’s announcement that it will be integrating a number of analytics functions for its programs give its products "an entirely new dimension".
These additions could boost efficiency by reducing the amount of information that a user needs to know about any given software, he added.
Commenting at the Influencer Summit earlier this month, chief technology officer at SAP Vishal Sikka stated that introducing more business analytics features to ERP technology will provide "limitless" abilities for data comprehension.
