Germany-based enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems provider SAP is witnessing growth in different pockets of the world, it has been suggested.

Qatar is proving particularly prosperous for the company, the Peninsula reports.

Managing director of SAP Middle East and North Africa Sergio Maccotta revealed the country has seen the rate of business users in IT solutions skyrocket, with small and medium-sized enterprises among the main contributors.

The industry figure stated the number of users in the region swelled from 35 million to 100 million in the last year alone.

"SAP is working with Qatari customers and partners on how the innovative use of IT can promote end-to-end visibility within their organisations in line with sustainable business practices," he added.

Jim Hagemann Snabe, co-chief executive officer at SAP, recently told shareholders at the firm’s annual meeting the organisation is looking to expand even further in 2010, even though Sybase has already been acquired by the company.
