Enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems provider SAP has enabled the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) to gain improvements in its financial operations, it has been claimed.
Reporting for Computing.co.uk, Dawinderpal Sahota described how the charity, which uses SAP across its human resources, accounting and project management procedures, has taken advice from the SAP User Group UK and Ireland.
The organisation was able to better its SAP implementation without re-engineering the software, the writer noted.
A setting on the platform’s Project System module was changed, which allowed costs to be calculated more accurately.
Andrew Robertson, SAP applications manager at the RNLI, said: "This improved acceptance and understanding of the module and made reporting easier."
The RNLI confirmed it now plans to introduce further SAP functionality across the next three years.
Ian Armitage recently observed in an article for ExecDigital that SAP ERP is fast becoming the technology of choice among firms as it can provide them with better productivity and insight.
