15th July

Category: ERP systems

The roll-out of a platform created by enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems provider SAP has been a highlight in the recent IT activity of Burberry, it has been claimed.

Writing for Computer Weekly, Angelica Mari noted the move was a group-wide implementation designed to support supply chain management.

Work on the installation got underway two years ago and the retailer’s finances have since witnessed marked growth, the reporter noted.

Ms Mari observed Burberry experienced a 23 per cent profit increase to £215 million for the last financial year, with revenue exceeding expectations and rising by 24 per cent in the first quarter.

Angela Ahrendts, chief executive of the clothes company, said: "Our continued investment in industry-leading digital, service and product initiatives will further increase awareness, traffic and sales to drive long-term profitable growth."

Computer World UK journalist John Rymer recently noted SAP’s strong customer base will stand it in good stead for the future.
