SAP ‘leads the ERP SME market’

9th July

Category: ERP systems

SAP has dominated the enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems market for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in recent times, it has been suggested.

The comments have been made by industry expert Ian Murphy in Computer Weekly.

Mr Murphy noted the Germany-based outfit, which provides ERP solutions such as SAP Business One, has been at the forefront of deploying software for SMEs "for a number of years".

The specialist observed the need for such technology has snowballed in the last decade.

Whereas only the largest firms required the platforms ten years ago, even the smallest of businesses are now considering ERP systems and reaping the benefits, he explained.

Mr Murphy added SAP’s recent acquisition of Sybase was a wise move and advised the former to drive the latter in order to make the alliance all the more productive.

The annual AMR Research Supply Chain Top 25 recently revealed 17 of the organisations included in the list are customers of SAP.
