Users of SAP's world-famous enterprise resource planning (ERP) software solutions will soon be able to benefit from a new piece of technology from the firm.

The company's chief information officer Oliver Bussman has outlined his dream of a data storage unit that is similar to Apple's popular iCloud device.

Speaking to V3, he noted that a "mobile app-like dropbox" is sure to significantly improve the experience of customers using ERP software.

He said such a product would allow firms to find out exactly where their information is being stored – a factor that is to become crucial over the coming years as legislation regarding the geographical location of data is introduced.

Mr Bussman admitted he finds customer feedback to be among the most important of all and said SAP will continue to use social networks such as Twitter to find out how its software is performing.

Steve Lucas, general manager of business analytics at SAP, writing a piece for Forbes, recently said that analytics is another feature many consumers will soon demand from their ERP software.
