Leading enterprise resource planning (ERP) software manufacturer SAP has won more recognition for the sustainable way it goes about creating its products and the energy-efficient way in which they work.
Computerworld has revealed its top 12 green IT organisations around the world – both in terms of users and vendors.
Of those providing technology to companies, SAP ranked ninth in the list, which was finalised after 70 nominations were considered.
Each of the vendors on the shortlist is said to strive to reduce the energy consumption of users of their solutions.
SAP is no different, as it has built a reputation for some of the most eco-friendly ERP software on the market.
Computerworld added that the firms it has recognised are so committed to the environment that green initiatives are woven "into the very fabric of their IT strategies".
Mrs Green – the founder of Littlegreenblog.com, using a pseudonym – recently said there are numerous reasons to switch to green IT, such as the financial savings it can instigate.
