Category: Accounting and financial software

Technology from enterprise resource planning systems provider SAP can be used to improve numerous operations throughout a company, it has been suggested.

Writing for Computerworld, Mahesh Sharma noted the software has been adopted by Australia Post in a bid to galvanise the mail delivery organisation.

The implementation will look at four business units - postal, retail, distribution and e-services.

Data analysis to drive efficiency in purchasing and payments will be the next stage.

Senior manager of Australia Post Mark Brogan said: "We're just now in [the] process of gathering the baseline. We'll use the data to measure the process and then identify the improvements."

The industry figure added the software from the Germany-based outfit will also better the firm's efficiency in corporate risk reporting.

SAP co-chief executive officers Bill McDermott and Jim Hagemann Snabe recently described the acquisition of Sybase as a customer-focused move to deliver improved mobility, information management and analytics.
